You Don’t Need to Know Your Purpose Yet

Karen Yvonne McClain

A lot of people feel stressed because they don’t know their purpose.

What they want to do.

Who they’re supposed to be.

What their life is supposed to look like.

Karen’s Substack is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

And honestly? That pressure starts way too early.

Here’s the truth:

You’re not supposed to have everything figured out right now.

Nobody does.

The problem isn’t that you don’t know your purpose.

The problem is thinking you need to know before you start.

You don’t.

You figure things out by trying things.

By showing up.

By making choices.

By doing something—even if it’s small.

That’s how purpose works.

It doesn’t show up first.

It shows up after you move.

So instead of stressing about your future, ask yourself:

“What’s one thing I can do today?”

That’s it.

One step.

One choice.

One move forward.

Because your purpose isn’t something you wait for.

It’s something you build.

If this message connects with you, my book “Purpose In Motion” goes deeper into how to start moving even when you don’t have everything figured out.

With courage, confidence, and faith, remember:

Know who you are and whose you are.
